Last Friday, aka Earth Day, we had the pleasure of having the a group of 2nd grade students from Muskegon Elementary School visit the farm to celebrate and learn about the environment. Together we planted peas in the green house, picked up the environment, and learned what plants need to survive. Throughout the field trip we asked student a few questions related to their field trip and here were their responses:

QUESTION 1 : "Why is it important to take care
of the earth?"
- Rachel, age 6, "So that when my mom and dad
are old they have a pretty place to live."
- Jeffrey, age 7, "So that my best friend and I
can go swimming in the lake this summer."
QUESTION 2: "When you grow up what can you do to make the world a better place?"
- Steven, age 6, "When I grow up I will plant my own garden and grow all my own food."
- Oliva, age 7, "When I grow up I will clean up all the sidewalks in Muskegon."
QUESTION 3: "What was your favorite part about your trip to the farm?"
- Jacklin, age 6, "My favorite part about the farm was all the dirt because without dirt plants
can't grow."
-Billy, age 5 1/2, "My favorite part about the farm was Miss Kelly, she was very nice and taught

me how to grow my own food so that I don't starve."
With answers such as these, I know who ill be voting for in the 2050 election. It was such a pleasure to share the farm with today's intelligent youth and tomorrows future. The field trips we offer build character values that you can't alway learn inside of a class room. In years to come, we hope to continue share this experience with many other students.
